Hey Shannon!

This is Andrew. I'm one of the drummers who played with you at Herman's Night Club. Thanks again for coming up to play in Victoria, British Columbia. It was refreshing for the percussionists at the University of Victoria to see some high-energy jazz and authentic New Orleans style drumming. It was great to see Hugh play as well, he has some serious chops! Last week you mentioned that you might be able to give me some lessons when you come back to Canada. I am definitely interested. Reply back when you have an idea of your availability, and we can try to work something out! I'm doing auxilliary percussion with the UVIC Jazz Orchestra, and bass drum with the pep band, but I'm open to anything you want to teach me.

Hasta luego!

Andrew Persoon.

Hi Shannon,

Glad to see that you and your family survived Katrina.

I met you very briefly at Donna's last year on Easter Monday. Lawrence introduced me, early in the night before the gig when you dropped in, as a drummer from Canada. You probably don't remember me, that's fine. Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed that night. As a drummer for the last 33 years in Northern Canada, (by the Arctic Circle) rarely do I get to enjoy musicians of the caliber and honesty that I saw that night at Donna's. It's a night that I will remember forever. I mean, it doesn't get any better than listening to hot music and looking out the window at the entrance to Louis Armstrong Park. I was lucky to get to see it. Lawrence was very nice to me that night, he asked me if I'd like to get up and play. It's not very often that I pass up the opportunity to play, but damn you guys were smokin' that night and I felt that sometimes it's better just to watch and enjoy. Enjoy it I did. Next time I see you, and you are jamming,

I want in!

PS Ever thought of coming to northern Canada to gig? We have a festival in the summer that runs in late July. If your interested I can pass your info onto the selection committee.

Thanks again for the great music that night

Sincerely
